Arsène Wenger hailed Mohammed Elneny saying he showed some “interesting ingredients” on his debut against Burnley in the FA Cup.
The Egypt international made his debut at the Emirates stadium, helping his side seal a 2-1 win over the Clarets as they booked a place in the fifth round of the competition.
And after the clash, the Gunners boss heaped praise on the 23-year-old who sealed a move from Basel earlier this month.
“I think he has to adapt to the power side of the game but he has shown interesting ingredients like game intelligence, mobility and technical ability and had some good shots,” Wenger said, as arsenal.com reported. “He will be a very interesting player for us.
“I think overall we had a good performance and we wanted to respond with a win. We wanted to qualify and the first 20 minutes looked like it could be all us but then suddenly when they equalised it became a different game.
“You could see they are a good side that just won against Derby 4-1 and we needed a strong performance. In the second half we deserved to win the game. At the moment it [a third consecutive FA Cup] is still a dream but the dream is still alive as we are still in it.”
