Wenger stands over decision not to shop in the summer.

WENGER SPEAKS OUT

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has given his reason for not buying an outfield player in the summer transfer window.

The north London side only secured the services of Petr Cech - from rivals Chelsea - this summer and the Arsenal manager was heavily criticised by football fans for deciding not to strengthen his side.

“I have made over 300 transfers and every time it’s a decision to make,” he said, standing firm over his decision.

“Do you buy the player because he strengthens your squad or not?

“The solutions we had were not convincing at all. And in the end you do not buy to give one hope you want to buy because the players who come in can help your squad to be stronger.

"Buying and selling is one way strengthen the team but its not the only way."
