Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reckons his side was haunted by "ghosts" when they stumbled to a 2-0 defeat to Southampton on New Year's Day.
The Gunners lost to Southampton at the St Mary's Stadium on New Year's Day after Ronald Koeman's side capitalised on Arsenal's mistakes in defence.
And the Frenchman said he was surprised at how they lost the game saying they were "haunted by the ghost".
“I cannot fault the attitude of the team, but we were again haunted by the ghost of what we have seen since the start of the season,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.
“This is not the first time it has happened. We did not defend well enough in the final third, and we paid a heavy price. It is a self-inflicted defeat.”
