GOLD: AT LEAST TWO MORE IN.
West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has said the Hammers are looking to secure the services of at least one more player and with Enner Valencia injured, it’s almost guaranteed a new striker will be heading to Upton Park.
The east London side have added quality and depth to their squad and also have a new coach in Slaven Bilić, but Gold says they are keen to bring two players.
“We’ve lost Valencia for the beginning of the season," he told Sky Sports News HQ. "We were already believing that we required another striker in the squad and we’ll be doing everything in our power to bring in the best players that we can."
When asked about securing Alex Song’s services permanently, he added: “What I can tell you is that our people - David Sullivan in particular, and Slaven, of course - everybody is working very, very hard to bring in the best players that we can.
"We enjoyed Alex Song’s contribution but these things are ongoing. We’re not panicking, we’re not going to do poor deals, we’re going to do sensible deals and I think by the time we kick off we should be in good shape.
“I would have thought [we will sign] at least two new players, not necessarily before we kick off but before the window closes.”
