Willy Caballero will step in for Joe Hart as the goalkeeper will be out for up to ten days.
The Argentine has lamented Hart's absence, but sees this as an opportunity for him.
"It's not good for anyone that Joe is injured but I have to step in and this is an opportunity for me," the shotstopper said. "It's not easy to really get going when you play one game here and there but three or four games allows you to really get going.
"We have a lot of crucial games coming up and training with Joe and Richard Wright over the past 18 months has made me a better goalkeeper. I'm ready for the challenge and want to help my team-mates."
Caballero will have his first opportunity when City face Southampton on Saturday.
