Gary Lineker was the last Everton striker to score 20 league goals in a season and Yakubu is backing Romelu Lukaku to do the same this season.

The former Nigeria international wishes he could play alongside the Belgium striker who he heaped praise on when speaking to reporters as skysports.com quoted: “He is really good, he’s young and quick. He can keep the ball, he can score goals. He’s going to score more goals.

"For me, I was unlucky I didn’t score more in my second season, but with this guy, I think he can score more than 20 goals.

“I wish I could play with him. When I see him play I just remember myself when I was there, the way he kicks the balls, the way he runs, the way he shoots with his left foot.

"The players like him, they always give him the goal, he has confidence and even when he doesn’t score, he still tries to.”
