Dele Alli after Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Burnley: “It’s disappointing, it’s two points dropped.”

 Dele Alli admitted that Spurs were below par against Burnley on Saturday evening.

The midfielder’s second-half penalty saved Tottenham Hotspur from conceding a third straight defeat in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho’s Lilywhites, who were without injured stars Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, had to battle hard to secure a 1-1 draw against a determined Burnley side at Turf Moor.

However, after Alli’s 50th Premier League goal cancelled out Chris Wood’s 13th minute opener and earned the north London club a point, he told Sky Sports: "There was a lot of aggression at half-time, we knew we were not good enough. If you switch off for a second they can punish you. Going in at half time 1-0 down, it was a sticky changing room to be. But we did better and created enough opportunities to win.

On scoring 50 Premier League goals, the England international said : "It’s a great achievement, but I’d swap the 50 for three points. It’s disappointing, it’s two points dropped."

When quizzed about his penalty against England team mate Nick Pope, he said: "I don’t want to give it away but I knew it was going the other way, the amount of times I’ve scored penalties against him in training I knew I’d go the other way!"
