Heung-min Son: 'If you look at the table we know it is getting closer.'

Updated: Feb 16, 2020

Spurs are up for the top-four fight as they bid to hunt down fourth placed Chelsea.

Heung-min Son has issued a rallying cry to his Tottenham teammates urging them to stay focussed as they continue their battle to secure a top-four spot this season.

Jose Mourinho's side secured a 2-0 win over the Premier League defending champions Manchester City on Sunday, thanks to goals from debutant Steven Bergwijn and Son.

The victory over the Citizens moved Tottenham to fifth spot, four points behind fourth placed Chelsea - who played out a 2-2 draw with Leicester City over the weekend.

“We have over 10 games now,” said the South Korean forward as the Mirror quoted. “We have a lot of games to play but at the end of the season we will see what happens. We just try to be focused. We just try to get as many points as possible.

“If you look at the table we know it is getting closer.

“We obviously know it is going to be difficult but we know where we should be as a team.

“We know we have let ourselves down at times and not got the right results but we just have to take each game and keep improving. Hopefully we will be up there at the end.

“Sunday is a massive result for us in terms of confidence. We have had a few games we were expecting to get the three points from and we haven’t and it is tough to bounce back. But Sunday was a great result.

”It is not an easy position, we know we have a lot of work to do but it gives us confidence going into the home stretch.”
