Spurs Midfielder James Maddison Lilywhites Deserved 4-0 Win Over Everton

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison believes his team’s 4-0 victory over Everton was a fair reflection of their dominant performance.

Yves Bissouma broke the deadlock, finishing off a well-executed team play to put Spurs ahead. Heung-Min Son then made it 2-0 by pouncing on a costly error by Everton's goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford.

The third goal came from Cristian Romero, who rose high to meet a James Maddison corner, heading the ball powerfully into the net. Son completed the scoring by slipping a low shot between Pickford's legs. Everton struggled to create chances, with only one notable attempt from Jesper Lindstrom, easily saved by the Tottenham goalkeeper.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Maddison expressed satisfaction with the result, which marked Spurs' first Premier League win of the season.

"The scoreline is quite devastating when you look at 4-0. I think we thoroughly deserved it," Maddison said. "We dominated, and we felt we should have had three points last Monday [against Leicester]."

Maddison also praised his teammate Yves Bissouma, who scored Tottenham's opening goal. "We all know Yves' ability. He is a ridiculous player at times. He has got a skill not many have," Maddison commented, emphasising the midfielder's unique talent and potential.

He also acknowledged the influence of Tottenham’s manager, highlighting the importance of adhering to his guidance. "The gaffer is a great man with good morals. He [Yves] has to keep working hard," Maddison noted.

Reflecting on the team's recent performances, Maddison pointed out that Tottenham had been creating opportunities but struggled to convert them in previous matches. "The performance was there on Monday.

"It was a case of not putting our chances away," he said. "It's important you try and put into practice what the manager wants. It's about us trusting him."
