Manchester United’s summer signing Benjamin Sesko has already caught the eye of teammates and football experts alike, earning praise from new arrival Bryan Mbeumo and former United defender Mikael Silvestre.

The 22-year-old Slovenian striker made a notable impact off the bench in United’s opening-day defeat to Arsenal, showcasing movement and awareness that hinted at his potential to become a key attacking weapon.

Sesko’s cameo replacement for Mason Mount highlighted his ability to stretch opposition defences, a quality that Silvestre was quick to underline.

“Sesko is big, not just in terms of height, but he’s also powerful and strong, but still being able to stretch the defence and run in behind is key, so yeah, I was impressed,” Silvestre told MUTV.

He went on to draw a connection between Sesko and his footballing idol, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. “If that's his idol and the model, it's not a bad one [to have]. Even if he wasn't there for a long time on the pitch, you could still see his movement, it was very clever. I'm already sure he will add a lot to United this season.”

Mbeumo, who joined United from Brentford this summer, also welcomed Sesko to the squad, emphasising the importance of helping new players settle into English football.

“He looks like a cool guy. We’re just being normal, just having normal conversations. He’s a good guy,” the ex-Brentford forward Mbeumo said.

“I think it’s important [to help people settle], especially when you come from another league and you don’t really know [about things here].

“I think it’s important to make them feel at home already. I think everyone is doing this naturally, we don’t really calculate anything, but I think this is really important.”

Whether Sesko makes his first Premier League start will be revealed when Ruben Amorim confirms his XI on Sunday afternoon. Until then, excitement continues to build among United fans who believe the young striker could mark his full debut with a decisive contribution at Craven Cottage.
