Joshua Zirkzee is Convinced Team Bonding Will Help Propel Man Utd This Season
Joshua Zirkzee believes Manchester United’s togetherness off the pitch could be the key ingredient to success on it, highlighting a strong sense of unity within the squad.
The Dutch striker, who has quickly settled into life at Old Trafford, spoke about the atmosphere inside the camp and how the squad’s bond has grown stronger compared to last season. For Zirkzee, the biggest difference is the energy and connection shared by both the new and established players.
“The group, for me, is… I don’t know, there’s such a good vibe. We’re all invested in something,” he told MUTV. “You can really tell that we really want to make sure that we’re not doing what we did last season. Also, outside the pitch, there’s some good vibes. We’re doing a lot of team bonding.
“I feel we’re much closer than we were last season, and hopefully we can translate all of that onto the pitch and share it with you, you know, the rest of the world who’s supporting United.”
The summer brought a mix of new faces and improved facilities at Carrington, giving United a refreshed look both on and off the pitch. For Zirkzee, the way the squad has welcomed new arrivals has only strengthened that sense of unity.
“Every individual contributes to that. For example, the new guys, we want to make it as easy as possible for them to feel at home in this environment. But if you see the way that they have come in, and also what they add to our environment, it works together very well.”
Despite opening the Premier League campaign with a narrow defeat against Arsenal, the striker is convinced that the club’s improved chemistry will help them weather setbacks and bounce back quickly.
“It’s our job that we stay this close together, and also when we have a setback. It’s not, of course, going to be all sunshine. I think this group is ready for that, to be honest. We have some great guys, experienced guys, young guys.”

That blend of hunger and balance, Zirkzee says, reflects the players and the coaching staff. “There’s a hunger in this team. There’s even a bigger hunger, I think, from our manager, from our coach. So it’s up to us to keep improving and also enjoying what we’re doing.”
United may face a long and challenging season ahead, but with the squad pulling together tighter than before, Zirkzee is confident that the collective spirit can provide the foundation for something memorable.
