Maresca Reflects on Chelsea's Win, Applauds Jackson and Fernandez

Updated: Nov 29

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was pleased with his side’s 2-1 victory over Leicester, stating that it was an important game for learning and improvement.

“It was a good game to learn many things,” Maresca told BBC Sport, noting that while Chelsea controlled the match early, they allowed Leicester back into the game as they became sloppy in the final stages of the first half. “In football, you can’t drop anything,” he added, shedding light on the need to stay sharp throughout.

Maresca also praised Nicolas Jackson’s contributions, highlighting his off-the-ball work and pressing. “He’s doing fantastic,” he said, pointing out that Jackson’s effort goes beyond goals and assists. The manager also commended Enzo Fernandez for his adaptability, noting that he was crucial in this particular game plan.

Looking back at facing his former club, Maresca shared his appreciation for the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and colleagues, adding, “It’s been a pleasure to see old friends and good people.”

With the win, Chelsea continue to build momentum under Maresca’s leadership, demonstrating resilience and room for improvement as they move forward in the Premier League.
