Micah Richards Admits He is the Landlord of A Premier League Manager

Micah Richards reveals why he likes a particular Premier League boss because he rents his flat in Harrogate

Micah Richards has never been shy of sharing a story or two, but his latest revelation left Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer in hysterics.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football during a pre-season predictions video, the former Manchester City defender admitted that one of the Premier League’s newest managers is, quite literally, his tenant.

When the discussion turned to Leeds United’s prospects under Daniel Farke, Richards couldn’t resist letting the secret slip.

“They play some really nice football, and they have got money to spend,” Richards said, before breaking into a grin. “I really like the manager, Daniel Farke… probably more because he rents my flat in Harrogate.”

The remark drew raucous laughter from his co-hosts, with Lineker immediately firing back with an X-rated quip: “You don’t give a Farke about his football, do you?” The exchange set the tone for one of the lighter moments of the predictions show, but it also shone a spotlight on Farke’s ongoing story at Leeds.

The German coach, now 48, has been a regular figure in English football since his arrival at Norwich in 2017. With the Canaries, he twice lifted the Championship trophy but endured a torrid time in the Premier League, including an unwanted record of 15 consecutive top-flight defeats before his departure in 2021.

Daniel Farke helped Leeds United seal a return to the Premier League.

Two years later, he was unveiled as Leeds manager following their relegation from the Premier League. His first season in Yorkshire ended in disappointment with promotion slipping away, but he made amends the following campaign by guiding the Whites to the Championship title and sealing an instant return to the top flight.

Richards, who began his own footballing journey in Leeds’ academy before joining Manchester City as a teenager, admitted he has a soft spot for his former club. And despite his landlord-tenant connection with the manager, he kept his forecast measured.

“They’re gonna find it hard at times, but they have got enough quality to stay up,” he said. “I am going to say they will just avoid relegation.”
