Antonio Conte admits a season of hard work awaits Tottenham Hotspurs and they will need to improve their performance going forward. The north London club beat relegation battlers Norwich City 3-0 on Sunday to move two points clear of the final Champions League position. The victory was Spurs’ third successive Premier League win and they have now secured 10 points from four games under Conte. Brazil international Lucas Moura opened the scoring with a superb strike before goals from Davinson Sanchez and Heung-min Son ensured the Lilywhites seal all three points over the Canaries.

'We have to build a solid base'

Tottenham boss Conte was happy with the win but insisted they must build a solid base. He told BBC Sport: "I think the game wasn't easy. The final result, we have to be pleased. And with three goals and a clean sheet. But we have to improve. We have space to improve and we have to continue to work. To get three points is important for confidence and the table. We are starting to work in just one month. We did well despite Norwich playing a good game. "The balance and solidity is very important if you want to improve and reach every target. To have another clean sheet, this is important. But the most important is to create chances. We scored three and had other chances to improve the result. Now we must recover. We play two intensive games in a few days. At one stage today I see fatigue. "I know for Tottenham, it will be a season of work. Hard work. Only through the work can we improve and to have ambition to improve our position. I have just started. We have to build a solid base and a good foundation if we want to try to be competitive in the future and fight for something important." On Lucas Moura, who scored his 18th Premier League goal following his move from Ligue 1 side PSG in 2018, the Italian said: "I think he scored an amazing goal but he has the quality to score more goals - and he has to score more goals in the rest of the season."

Since Conte took over at Spurs, they have secured 10 points from the first four league games.
