Spurs Crush West Ham as Kudus is Dismissed in Emphatic London Derby Triumph

Tottenham returned to winning ways after their 3-2 loss to Brighton before the international break. They had led 2-0 in that match but blew their advantage; this time, however, Spurs made no such mistake, delivering a commanding 4-1 victory over West Ham United in a fiery London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Despite an early setback when Mohammed Kudus opened the scoring for West Ham in the 18th minute, Spurs dominated the proceedings. Kudus pounced on a Jarrod Bowen cross to fire the Hammers ahead, but that lead didn’t last long. Tottenham responded with Dejan Kulusevski netting a crucial equaliser in the 36th minute, squeezing the ball home after a cross from James Maddison, which ricocheted off both posts.

The second half saw Spurs elevate their game. Yves Bissouma put them ahead just seven minutes after the restart, slotting in a well-timed cutback from Destiny Udogie. West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola’s unfortunate own goal in the 55th minute followed, after he parried a shot from Son Heung-Min only for it to deflect off Jean-Clair Todibo and into the net.

Son added a fourth for Spurs just five minutes later, calmly finishing after West Ham failed to clear their lines, putting the result beyond doubt. He could have made it five soon after, hitting the post with another close-range effort.

West Ham's misery was compounded when Mohammed Kudus was sent off in the 86th minute for violent conduct, following a VAR review that showed him pushing Pape Matar Sarr and Micky van de Ven in the face.

Tottenham's dominant performance, especially in the second half, was exactly the response manager Ange Postecoglou would have hoped for after their disappointing collapse at Brighton. Spurs remain in the hunt for a top-four finish, and their attacking display, orchestrated by Son and Maddison, showed their intent to push further up the table.
