Tijjani Reijnders Thrilled to Delight Man City Away Fans

Reijnders Delivers Dream Debut and Bonds with Travelling Man City Supporters

Tijjani Reijnders could not have asked for a better introduction to Premier League life. On his competitive debut for Manchester City, the Dutch midfielder found the net in a commanding 4-0 win at Wolves and also provided the assist for one of Erling Haaland’s strikes.

More than the statistics, however, it was the chance to share those moments with the travelling fans at the Molineux that left him beaming. The 27-year-old, who joined City from AC Milan this summer, was quick to underline how special it felt to mark his first league appearance with such an impact.

“Yeah, that felt amazing,” he told Man City's Matchday Live TV. “And I’m happy with the win and that I could help the team with a goal and an assist. I was a bit surprised that there were so many places close to the pitch for our away fans. That was a great feeling, scoring my goal and celebrating with the fans, of course.”

Reijnders showcased his composure in front of goal by doubling City’s lead with a measured left-foot finish, before turning creator in the second half. Receiving the ball from debutant goalkeeper James Trafford, he coolly exchanged passes with Oscar Bobb before slipping it into Haaland’s path.

The outcome was inevitable. “Yeah, that was really nice,” Reijnders reflected. “I know Erling is always sharp to be in the box. With his second goal as well, I knew he was there. When he hit the ball, I knew it was a goal.”

With Haaland’s double bookending the victory and Rayan Cherki adding a debut strike of his own, it was an afternoon that belonged to new arrivals.

Yet it was Reijnders’ tireless energy and willingness to link midfield to attack that caught the eye. For City fans who made the trip, his celebratory run towards them after his goal hinted at the immediate bond he is keen to build.

For a player stepping into a midfield still adjusting to departures and injuries, this debut performance was a statement. More than a polished display, it was a moment of connection, a sign that Reijnders has wasted no time in embracing both the shirt and the supporters who travel in their thousands to back it.
