Joao Pedro Is Keen to Start the 2025-26 Premier League Campaign in Flying Colours
Joao Pedro’s Chelsea career could hardly have started with more momentum. Arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion in early July, the Brazilian forward wasted no time stamping his name on the scoresheet and the memories of Blues fans.
His introduction was headline-worthy: two goals on his first start to sink Fluminense at the Club World Cup, followed by another in the final against Paris Saint-Germain to secure Chelsea’s status as world champions. Not bad for someone who hadn’t even set foot in Cobham before pre-season.
After a short summer recharge, the 23-year-old was back in training last Monday and looked every bit in sync with his new surroundings. Stamford Bridge got its first taste of Joao Pedro in blue against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday, and he obliged with a goal. Two days later, he was starting against AC Milan – and found the net again.
“I’m very happy to score here at Stamford Bridge,” he told chelseafc.com after the 4-1 victory over the Italian side. “I have enjoyed this pre-season: two games, two goals. Now we have to rest, keep on working hard, and then start well in the Premier League.”
That comfort isn’t limited to his finishing. Pedro has quickly forged bonds with his new teammates, making the transition into Chelsea’s dressing room seamless.
One moment in particular stood out when Liam Delap bagged his second against Milan, Pedro – already substituted – rose from the bench with arms aloft to celebrate the striker’s brace.
“It’s very good for Chelsea if we are both at a good level,” Pedro explained. “In the last game, he didn’t score, but today he scored two goals, and I am very happy for him.”
With a growing understanding on and off the pitch, and a sharpness in front of goal that’s hard to ignore, Joao Pedro looks primed to attack the new Premier League season in the same way he’s approached every moment in a Chelsea shirt so far – with confidence, purpose, and a taste for decisive goals.
