Man United's new signing Eriksen can't wait to get started.

Updated: Jul 19, 2022

The news of Eriksen's transfer to Man United came after their 4-1 pre-season win over Melbourne Victory under new boss Ten Hag.

Christian Eriksen says he is privileged to have secured a free transfer to Manchester United.

The news of Eriksen's transfer to Man United came just hours after the Premier League giants registered their second pre-season win under new boss Erik Ten Hag, beating Melbourne Victory 4-1.

Eriksen, who completed a remarkable turnaround in fortunes in little over a year following his horrifying cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, signed a three-year-old with the Old Trafford club.

The Denmark international is not due to meet up with the rest of the Red Devils squad as they continue their tour of Australia, however, it is believed the former Inter and Spurs midfielder could be fit for the fixture against Atletico Madrid in Norway.

“Manchester United is a special club, and I cannot wait to get started," said Eriksen after announcing his free transfer on Friday.

"I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times, but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling." He added: "I still have major ambitions in the game, there is a huge amount that I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey.”

The 30-year-old also spoke about how "excited" he is about the prospect of working with United manager Erik ten Hag.

Eriksen said: "I have seen Erik’s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day.

"It's clear that he is a fantastic coach. Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future.”

Brentford were keen to resign Eriksen after his brilliant displays at the club last season, but the Dane couldn’t turn down the opportunity to be part of the new project at United.
