Spurs star Ryan Sessegnon knew the momentum could switch

The Tottenham players "had to fight" hard to beat Bournemouth as they came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at the Vitality Stadium.

Left wing-back Ryan Sessegnon kick-started Spurs' comeback win against Bournemouth at Dean Court.

Ryan Sessegnon says it was disappointing to be 2-0 down against Bournemouth but is delighted that Tottenham fought back to secure a much-needed victory on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts started the match at the Vitality Stadium in flying colours, and got their reward when Wales international Kieffer Moore found the net in the 22nd minute following a superb counterattack by the Cherries.

And the Welshman doubled the lead as he outmuscled Spurs defender Emerson Royal and latched onto Adam Smith's cross with a powerful header that went in off the bar four minutes into the second half.

It looked like Gary O’Neil’s boys were going to cruise away with a win and put an end to successive losses, but when Antonio Conte’s Lilywhites pulled one back, the momentum shifted.

Spurs weren’t at their best before Ryan Sessegnon made it 2-1 with a calm finish into the bottom corner.

And eighteen minutes later, the north London club levelled the score when goalkeeper Mark Travers’ attempt to claim Ivan Perisic’s corner went wrong, leading Ben Davies to head the ball into the net.

Spurs continued to mount pressure on the homeside and eventually, midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur made it 3-2 from another set-piece late in the game.

The win means Conte’s side remain third in the English top-flight table going into what is an important week for Spurs, who travel to France in the coming days to play Marseille in the Champions League.

Spurs knew the momentum could switch.

Speaking after the important win, goalscorer Ryan Sessegnon told BBC's MOTD: "Obviously it was disappointing to be 2-0 down with some lapses in concentration, but we knew if we scored one goal the momentum could switch, and that is what happened today."

On nearly being substituted before his goal, the 22-year-old explained: "I had a little feeling as I looked over and saw him getting ready to come on but it is just one of them things that I had to make sure to leave my mark just before and thankfully I stayed on for a little bit longer.

"I have a good relationship with him [Conte], and I just try to be as consistent as I can for him."
