Spurs Secure First Three Points of the Season with 4-0 Win Over Everton
Tottenham Hotspur claimed their first Premier League victory of the season with a commanding 4-0 win over a lacklustre Everton side, spearheaded by two goals from captain Son Heung-min. Spurs took control from the outset, demonstrating high intensity and attacking intent from the first whistle.
The breakthrough came early in the match when Dejan Kulusevski made a smart move on the edge of the box, cutting inside to set up Yves Bissouma. The midfielder struck a crisp shot that clipped the underside of the crossbar before hitting the back of the net, giving Tottenham a well-deserved lead.
Shortly afterwards, Everton’s goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was caught off-guard. Son Heung-min pressed aggressively, stealing the ball from Pickford's feet before calmly slotting it into an empty net, doubling Tottenham's advantage and leaving the visitors shell-shocked.
Tottenham continued to dominate proceedings after the break, and their third goal came from a set-piece.
Cristian Romero outmuscled both James Tarkowski and Michael Keane to powerfully head in James Maddison’s precise inswinging corner, further showcasing Spurs' aerial threat and Maddison's quality in delivering set-pieces.
Son Heung-min put the game well beyond Everton’s reach with a fourth goal, capping off a brilliant attacking display. In the 77th minute, Micky van de Ven made an impressive run from one penalty area to the other, laying the groundwork for Son to finish with a low, angled shot that went through Pickford's legs, completing the rout.
Everton struggled to create meaningful chances throughout the match as they only managed one effort from Jesper Lindstrom, which was comfortably saved by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. The Toffees' lack of attacking threat underscored their disappointing performance and inability to trouble the home side.
