Arteta hails Gunners new striker Gabriel Jesus.

Arteta has lauded his Gunners, who are keen “to win” and “enjoy what they do.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is delighted the Gunners’ new players are fitting in well and is looking ahead to the new campaign in excitement.

The north London club were desperate for experienced signings after missing out on a top-four spot last season.

Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner, and Marquinhos have all joined Arsenal and it is believed Oleksandr Zinchenko is set to be the club’s fifth signing.

“As I have said many times, this is a fantastic group of people,” the 40-year-old said. “And they welcome everybody in the right way. It is a really easy group to handle.

“There are some really good characters and from what I've seen so far they already feel like they've been here for a long time.

“I think we have a really good balance and then there is a lot of chemistry between those very different age groups.

“We all have the same aim - we're here to win and enjoy what we do. They've been extremely helpful with the young lads. But the young lads also behave in a way that everybody wants to help them and do the best for them.”

Arsenal cruised to a 2-0 win over Everton in the U.S on Saturday, and Arteta had special praise for Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus, who made it three goals in just two halves of football since his move from the Premier League champions Manchester City.

Jesus opened the scoring at the M&T Stadium in the 33rd minute before Bukayo Saka doubled the lead (in the 36th) as Arsenal racked up a third consecutive win in pre-season.

He looks really sharp, really dynamic. (He’s got) a really good understanding with his teammates straight away,” Arteta said of Jesus, who he worked with at the Etihad years ago as Arsenal.com quoted.

“They are looking for him, he’s generating chances, good connections around specific spaces we want to exploit with him especially, and yeah, we’re really happy.

When asked whether playing as a No. 9 is the ex-Man City star’s best position, Arteta replied:Well he’s very versatile, but obviously, the way we would like to develop him, is in that position.

“But not on his own sometimes, but don’t close that door because Gabby in relation to what the opponent does in certain games we are going to have to use him in different positions. He is open to that and he knows it’s part of his strength as well.”

Defender William Saliba, who is looking forward to his first season at the Emirates, put in a good performance against the Toffees, and Arteta was quick to point that out.

“He (Saliba) was really good. I think he played a really good game, he looked really composed, straight away from day one he looked completely focussed, he’s evolved the way we wanted and today I think he had a great performance.”
